PRINCIPAL TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER, CALTRANS

Under the general direction of the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s (Authority) Director of Infrastructure Delivery, the Principal Transportation Engineer (PTE) is responsible for all activities related to contract management of Project and Construction Management (PCM) consultants and the design-builders working on the high-speed rail program.
The incumbent will provide direction and strategic oversight to Authority contract managers and ensure Authority policies and procedures are adhered to consistently on Authority contracts.
The Senior Contract Manager also provides direction and strategic oversight to Authority consultants and ensures that Authority policies and procedures are adhered to consistently on Authority contracts and Program Delivery functional areas.

Working Conditions Limited Telework may be available for this position for California residents based on the requirements of the position and may be discussed during the interview process.

While working on site, the incumbent works in a professional office environment, in a climate-controlled cubicle which may fluctuate in temperature and is under artificial light.

Employee must be able to focus for long periods of time, multi-task, adapt to changes in priorities and complete tasks or projects with short notice.

Experience administering a design and construction transportation program, including delivery of large-scale design-build contracts requiring extensive multi-agency coordination and cooperation.
Experience with contract administration, management of the performance of contractors, and negotiating contract terms and conditions with contractors.
Experience with contract administration or oversight of innovative contracting methods including design-build, DBFM, CMGC, or P3.
Ability to exercise good judgment and calm professionalism in all situations.
