Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Provide photographic records.
Be able to read and understand architectural, structural, and civil drawings
Be able to redline drawings and pictures using adobe acrobat
Track completed work; and assist in reviewing contractor’s progress payments
Provide field support services for submittals, RFIs, and requests for contract change orders.
Notify the resident engineer of any observed non-conformances and assist in the issuance of non-conformance reports as required.
Participate in and/or conduct planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling and field staff meetings.
Review plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, constructability reviews and contract closeout records.
Assist in detecting and resolving disputes and/or problems
Respond to complaints from the public
Ensure that all required tests, operations, measurements, and inspections are scheduled, ordered, staff working on progress payments by verifying and preparing quantity and progress estimates.
Maintain records on unit price quantities, labor, equipment and progress for change order work.
Review change orders for implementation.
Make field measurements and maintain as-built drawing records.
Conduct and/or witness testing of contract material, equipment, and installations.
Report safety and traffic hazards, defective work and debris to the contractor for correction.
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of 10+ years of related work experience is required.
Five years of verifiable full-time experience in construction inspection work, including two years of experience as a construction inspector working in an urban environment.
Familiarity with transit industry standards, practices, and regulations is helpful.
Valid driver's license.
Skills and Competencies:
Potential to perform in a lead capacity.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be proficient in the use of Excel and MSWord.
Ability to work in a cooperative team environment.
