The Airport General Manager directs the process and activities of the Assistant General Manager(s), if applicable, and multiple Operations Managers, and oversees an airport location within the Operations Division to ensure maximum performance through superior operational leadership, strong communication and maximum efficiency.
The Airport General Manager represents all Hertz Global brands to our customers, community leaders, business partners, vendors and government entities.
This position is primarily responsible for the successful delivery and oversight of the Hertz product to internal and external customers.
This position provides overall leadership to exempt and non-exempt employees with responsibility for overall operating performance, customer satisfaction, positive employee culture, safety, service, budgets, and vendor relations.
The Airport General Manager is responsible to have in-depth knowledge of operations, management, logistics, technology and financial disciplines across all functions and all brands at a location.
The leader must have a proven track record for decisive actions backed by analytical thinking, goal-directed leadership and service-oriented performance.
This leader will deliver results through leadership, direction, alignment and motivation.
The key responsibilities and accountabilities for the Airport General Manager are:
Fully accountable for the delivery of profit for the airport location.
Some roles may contain operational accountability for the nearby HLE locations as well.
Continuously enhance the geography’s capabilities by implementing and driving innovative and creative commercial methods and processes to meet and exceed customer expectations, and ensure alignment of the sales force with those sales methods and processes
Pro-actively drive the sales process that leads to the creation of a dynamic, customer-focused zone commercial organization focused on selling value-added solutions (VAS)
Ensures achievement of profitability while protecting the value offering
Actively fosters a culture that provides the “Best in Class” Customer Service
Constantly champions productivity improvements via employee involvement and accountability
Maximizes Cash Management through:
Fleet – Develops and executes strategies to drive efficiency in all operational fleet processes
Non-Fleet – Partners with Finance COE to reduce non fleet receivables
Responsible for building, managing and developing cross-functional talent effectively within the Organization in order to foster a high performing culture and holds all location management accountable for the effective management of their teams
Actively engages in effective communication plans focused on building employee engagement in order to achieve business results
Develop effective tactical plans and operationally execute the company strategy, as cascaded by his/her respective Zone Vice President
Creates a culture of partnership and open mindedness at all levels through effective collaboration across the organization
Generates innovative ideas and solutions to problems and constantly strives to improve business results and stay ahead of the competition
Establish location-specific performance standards/goals and ensure execution
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
Educational Background:
High School Diploma Required
Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred
Professional Experience:
8 + Years previous management experience in a fast-paced environment
3-5 Years prior experience as a Manager
Experience in car rental, hospitality, or tourism a plus
Result orientation with demonstrated history of success
Demonstrated ability to direct and motivate teams as well as identify and grow talent
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Senior leaders and manage large, dispersed and diverse workgroups.
